I started this channel to talk about Greenhouses and Garden growing technology as well as things related to that. I tend to focus on ways to grow food and simple gadgets related to Greenhouses and Gardens but will touch on alternative energy, esp related to off grid greenhouses and gardens. Everything I do here are projects you can do yourself at home.

Geothermal Cooling Tricks and Hacks
With the increased power demand and degrading infrastructure of the US power grid, coupled with climate change, I'm very interested in doing something like this in Phoenix AZ. I'm a little worried about (1) soil conductivity because I assume it's dry. (2) I want to do this on a suburban lot (no HOA, in case that matters) and so I have to balance pipe length and lot size. Any thoughts/comments/resources would be greatly appreciated :-)
I’m not familiar with your area, I’m a polar bear
And Investigate before excavate.
Call before you dig
It all sounds so easy from a desk & green screen.
Operating an excavator isn’t difficult. I have over 1000 on them, if I can do it, anyone reasonably intelligent can
Hi very interesting Systhem. Is there a surface ratio ( greenhouse/geothermal collector) you can recommend
it's hard to make blanket recommendations as there are a lot of variables due to location and soil material
Thank's for your quick answer! So were could i find further Informations to fit the Systhem to my conditions here in the south of germany?
@@itreB RUclips or testing with a backhoe. Google might help, sorry that’s all I hsve
I recommend a fan with a shroud will be way for efficient for pulling heat in or out of the radiator.
Good idea
Wow this is great. New sub! I plan to build my first greenhouse later this year. I'm hoping to eventually replace my job with farming over the next 5-10 years. I've got 1.5 acres to work with right now, but I'm neighbored by my ageing parents with 20 acres that nets Zero. If I can make 1.5 work, I can expand. Just need proof of concept
That’s awesome
You are all over the place. 😢
Focus, there is a point
Also would love video of testing the system with temp and pressure gauges
Would have love actual install videos/ pics
Will do soon
How many sq feet would this be appropriate for cooling? What would the math be to scale the size up for a small, medium or large house? Is there a ratio for length of the tubing for the sq foot of the house?
Good questions. I don’t do that. Hope you enjoyed the video

The Kensington Rune was NOT written in 1000 AD Norse but a much later version (and books with this later Rune were found in the man who "discovered" the Rune stone attic). The Le Verendrye stone was "It is not mentioned in the official records of La Vérendrye's expedition". So it might not have ever existed either. Also, the southern tip of Hudson Bay is mostly non accessible by boat. The city of Churchill has a very short "Ice Free open season", without Ice breakers probably not available to 1000 AD Vikings. . To get from Churchill to Minnesota (or anywhere on the Mississippi/Missouri river) is very difficult as it is a semi arid region and would have entailed portages of hundreds of kilometers. Besides, the Norse would have travelled, by boat to Saskatchewan and Alberta where rivers actually flow (from the snow melt from the Rockies).. Somehow those regions are void of Runes.
The climate was different in Hudson Bay 1000 years ago, but facts get in the way of your bitching
@@SimpleTek How is making true statement's "bitching"? BTW you are right The climate was different 1000 years ago. It was colder. I love how the map at 30 seconds he put "Vineland" in Hudson Bay. Grapes? Hell TREES do not even grow there. OOOPS more "bitching", I guess.
@@qualicumwilson5168 you are wrong, the northern climate was warmer 1000 years ago. It’s why Greenland had colonies that disappeared 800 years ago
I'm very interested. Do you have any specs showing how many feet of buried line I'd need in west central Florida to provide cooling for an average size home?
Sorry, no

I'm looking into doing this for a shop I plan on building in a year or two. Where I am at has a high water table on a very slight slope (we have a underground spring running a few feet under the ground in the front yard). I am hoping with the water flowing like that it will keep the ground cool in the summer rather than building up around the lines and just sitting there. I'm not as worried about heat in the winter (middle tn so a fair amount of 90+ days but not a LOT of sub freezing days) plus the shop will have a wood burning stove and forge for when i hopefully get into blacksmithing. Im hoping with my specific situation I can get by with about a 100-150' run for a insulated 200 sq ft shop.
Longer the better
The UN comment is unsupported by science and is in fact not even happening now. The "climate is a crisis caused my man" models have failed to predict the actual temp change over time and there is no science that indicates our minor contribution to CO2 levels is dangerous and as you can see from the greening of deserts, is actually beneficial. The 1930s have the record for record highs and the manipulation of data by so called climate scientists is appalling.
Why were vikings the way they were? It seems like they would like havy metal and smoking cigarettes.

@@sonnylambert4893 no. It's more of a scholarly theory.
Absolute nonsense along with pseudo science assertions. It's just outright historical revisionism and of course bullshit. Facts do not support any of this crap, nor does any of this make sense. An empty collection of if's. The desperation and artifice here is astounding.

I am thinking of building a greenhouse 10x20 ft off of my art studio 20x20 ft to make it into an entertaining space. I am thinking about air-conditioning it with two air conditioning units one for the art studio 20x20 ft and one for the 10x20 ft green house. I am also going to tint the top panels as well as add vents and fans. Do you think this is enough cooling for Wisconsin summers? I also am thinking of adding a wood stove for the winters and having ducts bring that heat from the wood stove into the art studio. Thanks so much your video was excellent!

Alright, I have to admit that that tap water test is genious!
Thank u
Trouble is, it's flawed. My well is almost 200 feet deep. The water that comes out of my faucet is warm due to the pipes being at ambient air temperature. After a few seconds, the water turns colder because of the colder water stored in my pressure tank, which is in the basement. When the actual water from my well comes through, it is much colder (200 feet). That tells me nothing about how deep I need to dig.

Would it work if you only went 6 ft down in the ground in Wisconsin where the temp is 59 degrees F (15c), so that you could both cool and heat your home? Also, why couldn't you do this in the city if you don't use solar?
It would probably work at 6 feet. Deeper is better

One more question. How does the hot air get out of the house if you are blowing cool air from the fan?
@@meblake7359 it cools down, not replaced
@@SimpleTek Oh, so it works like an ac exhanging the heat and humidity for cool, dry air?
You failed to consider the geography of Northern Manitoba. The watershed of the prairies of western Canada give way to the Canadian shield. As that watershed empties into Hudson Bay it has to drop about 700 feet to sea level. There is a chain of hydro electric power stations dotting northern Manitoba that exploit this elevation chain today. Viking ships would not have been able to navigate these rivers. Canoes would not / could not have been manufactured in and around Hudson's Bay because there is no wood. The tallest birch tree in the vicinity grows 50 miles south and is only 6 feet tall. Later travelers that DID navigate those rivers used York Boats that were manufactured in THE SOUTH and taken north. Every resident of Gimli KNOWS that the inhabitants of Husavic are KNOWN never to let the truth get in the way of a good story. If you listen to a person from Husavic ALL the biggest fish are caught there. I found a Rhune-Stone but then I lost it.... sounds like the shy grade 8 boy who " does so have a girlfriend...she lives in Cincinnati!!! Stop posting such anti-native conspiracy theories. We all know that if all the Native land claims in Western Canada were settled we'd have to buy 50% of western US just to supply the amount of land claimed. We also know that when or if those land claims were settled there wouldn't be enough money in the settlement to pay off all the lawyers who are working on a contingency fee.
You understand Vikings traveled through Eastern European rivers to the middle east in the same time period. I’m a Viking, rapids are not an issue for me. Vikings pick up the boat and carry it around. We’re big men. But not just us, the French did it too all throughout Hudson Bay for centuries as well. So yes your comment is valid for PANSIES like you, but not an issue at all for Vikings like me.
@@SimpleTek you MUST be from Husavik!!!!

Scandinavian longships, or Viking ships (same) where made for shallow as well as deep waters and they could easily roll or carry them on land to reach another water way. They actually did that frequently. There's a fat chance that these travellers did explore more of North America then is currently admitted, but the question remains how far and how often did they do it. One of the factors that would help answer that question is just how many of them came. Probably not huge groups at a time.
@@ottodidakt3069 well said
The Vinland Map has proved to be a fraud. However, I totally agree with your theory that Scandinavian explorers ventured to many locations around North America. "Viking" is correctly used to describe pirates, not Scandinavian explorers or settlers, who after 1000 AD tended to be Christians. There is also profound evidence of one or more Scandinavian colonies on the coast of South Carolina. "Vin" is the Archaic Scandinavian word for grass or pasture. It was also the name of the Swedish island in the Oresund Channel, where I designed a pedestrian village.
Vikings tending to be Christian 800 years ago, not 1000
King Harold Klak of Denmark converted to Christianity in 846 AD. The church on Ven near my project was built around 900 AD. Ven is now owned by Sweden, but in the Oresund between Sweden and Denmark. King Olaf Tryggvason's of Norway converted in 994 AD. Probably, the switch to Christianity started first among the jarls then worked down to the karls and thralls.

The fact that the Kensington Stone has a rune, the "hooked X", that was not known about by even highly educated "experts" on the subject of runes, until 20 years ago, indicates the Kensington stone is NOT a forgery by a Swedish farmer....but is a REAL artifact from the 1300's.
Hey....No great mystery WHY the US Government would be hiding the TRUE discoverers of America. Just think. IF the Norse penetrated to Minnesota and laid a land claim (the Kensignton Stone), the TRUE owners of North America would not be the Spanish...or the French...or the English. The TRUE owners would be the Scandahovians!. Just think about THAT! We'd all have to start speaking Scandahovian and eat Lutefisk at Christmas time! Thank you very much...but NO THANKS!
